Hello RML Managers! A few Sunday afternoon musings on the things that amuse, bemuse and confuse a man in the wonderful world of RML.....More than any other team, the Oakland Athletics improved their team the most, acquiring a proven run scorer in Bobby Abreu and a great young starter in Esteban Caisse. They still face an uphill battle defending their title against the Mariners, but Shawn Rankins deserves credit for going out and filling the holes caused by the offseason departures of Brian Daubach, Jeffrey Hammonds and Jamey Wright......The A's wheeling and dealing may have been overshadowed by a bold move from Red Sox GM Brent Ingram in getting ace Bryant Burton. This is the kind of move that the Red Sox have needed for a long time to get out of the .500 rut they've been in. If Burton pitches anything like his god-like rookie season, then I'd like to give my condolences to the deceased members of the AL East.....The Creature has to say he is a little disappointed with the Marlins foray into a rebuilding program. I'm sure GM Brian Curski has a plan, but this was a team that was on the verge of something great for a few years and never quite got over the hump.......As much as the Red Sox are smelling roses about the Burton deal, they gotta be hurting over the Tony Legrand signing. It's only a month, but already I smell bust.......Speaking of bust, its nice to see Shawn Green is off to a roaring start with the Giants after signing a five-year free-agent deal. If anybody knows the wherabouts of this supposed slugger, please contact the authorities.......HEROES: BRENT INGRAM, Red Sox GM- Eat your heart out Dan Duquette.......ZEROES: BRIAN CURSKI, Marlins GM- Not exactly the most popular man in South Florida........You guys know the drill. If you don't like what I say, let me hear it. Just don't forget your diaper. |
