WORLD SERIES: Oakland Athletics (101-62) vs. Atlanta Braves (98-64) This is shaping up to be a classic duo between the pitching of the National League Braves and the titanic sluggers of the Athletics. Not that Atlanta doesn't have sluggers themselves (Glaus-Stenson), but Oakland's hitting attack has simply overwhelmed opponents at times this season. Both of these teams looked solid during the League Championship, leading one to believe that this one is going to be a thriller. The Creature admits some self-doubt in betting against Oakland (especially since they keep making me look stupid), but I'd be lying if I didn't pick Atlanta. In close games, pitching usually wins out. ------------------------------ BRAVES IN SIX ---------------------------- |
