Hello RML Managers!

A few Wednesday morning musings on the things that amuse, bemuse and confuse a man in the wonderful world of RML...It was surprising to see Phil Wickham resign in Houston. He has had that team from Day One....I think the AL East is gonna be one helluva race between Baltimore and Toronto. Toronto may be 6 games out, but they won 111 games last year and they have the same roster this season....In this game, one year you're a goat and the next you're a hero. Look at Ryan Klesko of K.C and Richie Sexson of Montreal. Two years ago, Klesko was on the scrapheap. Coming off a .212, 16 hr, 48 rbi season in 2001, he was rescued by K.C last season and now is the front-runner for A.L MVP. Last year, Richie Sexson was one of the reasons Montreal fell from first to third, hitting .242 with 23 hr and 66 rbi. Now, only 1/3 of the way into the season, he's leading the NL with, you guessed it, 23 homers.....Young players as talented as they might be are no sure thing. Look at talented young 1B Jon Crowell of Pittsburgh. He has all the tools, but has played so horrendously that he was demoted to AAA forcing the Pirates to trade for Rafael Palmeriro to fill his place.....Speaking of Palmeiro, I'd like to extend my gratitude and that of the entire league to the Pirates Bill Kalish for ending the Palmeiro soap opera in Minnesota.....The more I think about it, the more I realize that Rafael Furcal might be a tad overrated. I'm not saying he isn't one of the best young players in the game or that I wouldn't want him on my team. He's awesome, especially for his age. But for all his steals and all the hype, he is 4th among leadoff hitters in runs scored and only 12th among leadoff hitters in on-base percentage. Those stats, rather than just pure steals, are the true signs of an effective leadoff hitter.....HEROES: RICHIE SEXSON of Montreal and RYAN KLESKO of Kansas City- Two heart warming combeack stories.....ZEROES: BILLY WAGNER of Toronto- He has a 7.36 e.r.a and a 66% save percentage. Since he fuels fires in the 9th inning instead of putting them out. We'll change his name from the 'fire man' to the 'gas man'......As always, your complaints are welcomed at rmlbleachercreature@hotmail.com
